Welcome to the website of St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary. Our seminary, located in Boynton Beach, Florida, is owned by the seven Dioceses of Florida and serves the Church of Florida, the rest of the Southeast, and beyond.
Since the seminary's foundation in 1963, over 650 priests have been formed and gone on to serve in parishes throughout the Southeast and the Caribbean. Forming candidates in the four dimensions of priestly formation (human, spiritual, academic, and pastoral) is our expertise and primary mission at St. Vincent de Paul. Our bilingual and multicultural environment prepares seminarians to serve the growing Hispanic presence in the United States. St. Vincent de Paul is the only fully bilingual theologate in the country.
The seminary prepares men who have already completed college degrees and are in the four stages of formation described in The Program of Priestly Formation, sixth edition, mandated by the US Bishops in 2023: propaedeutic, discipleship, configuration, and vocational synthesis. We are a free-standing graduate/professional school of theology and offer the Master of Arts (Philosophical Studies for Missionary Discipleship) (MAPS), primarily for seminarians in the discipleship stage as well as lay students, the Master of Divinity (M.Div.), for seminarians in the configuration stage and entering the vocational synthesis stage, and the Master of Arts (Theological Studies) (MATS), for permanent deacon candidates and interested laity. We also offer the Anima Christi Certificate for seminarians in the propaedeutic stage. The seminary is also committed to providing continuing education for clergy, religious, and the lay faithful. I encourage you to visit this site often and sign up for our electronic newsletter so that you can stay current regarding the activities and events of our community.
I will be pleased to welcome your attendance again at our Wednesday Mass which will resume on September 18, 2024, when the students return from their summer break. I ask that you remember the seminary and our important work in your prayers, and if you are able, please prayerfully consider supporting our mission through a charitable donation.
On behalf of our seminarians, our faculty, and our staff, thank you for your interest in St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary. God bless you.
Very Rev. Alfredo I. Hernández, Ph.D., S.T.L.
Rector/President
