SR. CARMEN ÁLVAREZ, RMI

Sr. Carmen Álvarez, a member of the Congregation of the Claretian Missionary Sisters, was born in a small town in Asturias, Spain (northern region). She arrived in the United States in 1974 and quickly learned the basics of English. She began her pastoral mission at St. Benito Parish and later served as the Director of Religious Education and Music Minister at Corpus Christi since 1978.

Today, we want to highlight a different aspect of her work. Sr. Carmen holds a special place in her heart for the clergy, likely due to her uncle and brother both being priests. Her deep belief in the value of the priesthood drives her to support seminarians assigned to Corpus Christi. With over 60 years of religious experience, she offers guidance on their assignments and encourages them to be attuned to the needs of those they will serve. She lends a sympathetic ear to them and takes great care of their needs.
