In Advent, our discipleship seminarians embarked on a deeply moving mission trip to the mountains of the Dominican Republic, where they experienced the lifestyle of a missionary priest. Alongside our faculty priests, Fr. Dominic Buckley and Fr. José Lopez, they cared for 8 mountain villages who rarely celebrate the sacraments since no priest comes to their remote villages. The seminarians not only celebrated Mass in various villages but also put on skits to catechize children and worked in the fields with locals harvesting coffee beans. Their time in the mountains was a powerful exchange of listening, accompaniment, and forming lasting bonds in Christ. Their experiences in the Dominican Republic now inspire them as they move forward on their path to priesthood, ready to share the love and hope they have found in las lomas, the hills.
