DEACON VICTOR PIMENTEL

ARCHDIOCESE OF MIAMI


Deacon Victor Pimentel was born in Oaxaca, Mexico, earned a B.A. in administration from Universidad Hispano Americana in Mexico City and an M.B.A. from the University of Miami, where he served as director of Catholic Campus Ministry in 1995.

He began his missionary work in 1998 with the Pontifical Council Cor Unum, serving first in the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Latin America and later assisting refugee camps in the Balkans, Asia, North Africa, and the Middle East until 2013. Served the Holy See representation to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

In November 2001, he was ordained a permanent deacon for the Archdiocese of Miami and became executive director of the Archdiocese of Miami Office for the Permanent Diaconate three years later. He then earned his master’s in theology from The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C. in 2004, a licentiate in theology from the Angelicum, The Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas, Rome, in 2008, and a doctorate in theology from The Pontifical University of the Holy Cross, Rome in 2019.


Currently, he serves on the boards of several missionary organizations dedicated to the Catholic identity of relief service, human rights and religious freedom, and on diaconate formation and ministry. Additionally, he is a professor and lecturer in dogmatic theology and patristic studies.
